At Classen Montessori School, we are deeply committed to fostering a community that embodies Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI). The Roots of Change Fund was established to honor the legacy of our beloved guide, Dr. Keisha Beasley, whose passion for creating equitable opportunities and nurturing growth continues to inspire us. This fund serves as a meaningful way to carry forward her vision and dedication.
Keisha’s passion for math, science, grammar, and the natural world was woven into every aspect of her Montessori classroom. She had an extraordinary ability to spark curiosity in her students, guiding them to see the beauty of a well-structured sentence, the logic of a mathematical equation, and the wonder of scientific discovery. Whether dissecting the grammar of a favorite story or leading hands-on experiments that made abstract concepts tangible, Keisha nurtured a love of learning that extended far beyond the classroom walls. She believed that education was not just about acquiring knowledge but about developing a deep connection to the world, inspiring generations of students to think critically, explore boldly, and appreciate the intricate patterns of life around them.
The Roots of Change Fund directly supports initiatives that advance JEDI principles at Classen Montessori School. Contributions to the fund will be used to:
1) Recruit and Develop Diverse Faculty
Attract and support educators who reflect the diversity of our community, including individuals from Black, Hispanic, Native American, and other underrepresented backgrounds.
Provide professional development and training opportunities to help our faculty excel and grow.
2) Montessori Teacher Training
Offer scholarships to aspiring Montessori educators from underrepresented demographics, helping them achieve certification and join our mission to create inclusive learning environments.
3) Student Scholarships
Assist students and families who may face barriers to accessing Montessori education, ensuring that financial circumstances do not limit opportunities.
4) Broader JEDI Initiatives
Implement programs, curriculum updates, and community-building efforts that promote justice, equity, and inclusion within our school.
Your support of the Roots of Change Fund helps us ensure that Classen Montessori School remains a safe, inclusive, and equitable environment for all. By addressing systemic barriers, amplifying marginalized voices, and fostering diversity, we can create a brighter future for our students, staff, and community.
Keisha’s legacy is one of love, compassion, and transformative change. Every contribution to this fund ensures her vision lives on, touching lives and building a more just and equitable world.
